Counterfeit Information

Counterfeit Likeliness: Low

While the series is rarely forged, the predominant fake is a fairly crude 1795 that should be easy to identify. The devices, lettering, and digits are noticeably rounded unlike the original and the denticals are nearly nonexistent. Several raised lines and lumps appear in the field.

The rare 1802 half dime is sometimes found as an electrotype so look for the tell-tale seam.
