Complete US Mint Year Set (Foreign and Domestic) – 1911

In the big scheme of things, there just was not much going on in 1911. With only 33 domestic coin issues, 5 for the Philippines & Salvador, and no pattern coins, only 38 coins were needed for a birth-year collection. There was little news in the world worthy of mentioning 100 years later other than Cy Young got his record 511th victory giving, a record that almost all experts claim will never be beaten. Taft was still president, Italy and Turkey were at war, the Chevrolet was brought to market, silver remained steady for the year averaging $0.556, while gold remained at $18.92 for the second year in a row.
