Complete US Mint Year Set (Foreign and Domestic) – 1923

1923 was not the greatest year for coin collecting. The San Francisco Mint issues for the Buffalo Nickel and the Standing Liberty Quarter are decent coins to collect but other than that, all the coins of this year are relatively easy to find.

The Roaring 20’s were about to get in full mode, but the stock market was relatively quiet for the last time until the crash. Silver rose slightly to $.65 and gold rose to $21.32 per ounce, its highest price in American history.

Speaking of history, the USSR was established and the KKK was very active and many KKK tokens from this era can be found at local coin shows. Calvin Coolidge became the 30th President as President Harding died, and the Attorney General announced that it was legal for women to wear trousers anywhere. No, not an exciting year.
